Mission Statement
Afrofesta London is an organization that prides itself in presenting the City of London with an annual festival that is unique to African, Caribbean and Canadian cultures. Held in downtown, Londoners and visitors can experience the rhythmic sounds of music, the colorful and spicy varieties of foods, immerse themselves in authentic arts, crafts, jewelry and participate in live dancing unique to Africa and the Caribbean.
Entertainment from international artists, to national and local performers are celebrated over 2 days during the month of August in downtown London, emulating the warmer climates of Africa and the Caribbean with music, food and dance. Afrofesta London encourages involvement from the community, volunteers and youth groups. Admission is free and all are welcome!
History of the Festival
Founded in 2008, Afrofesta started as a one day festival in the Covent Garden Market, downtown London. Since then it has grown to attract over 8000 people in 2010 and Afrofesta London has big plans for 2012.
After coming off of a hiatus for the 2011 year, Afrofesta London is pleased to be preparing for 2012 in Victoria Park, downtown London.
